Welcome to the #OurFeedOurFuture Summer Series - Part 1

School’s out, the sun is shining, and with more free time on their hands, young people tend to spend extra hours online scrolling, sharing, gaming, and exploring. While the holidays are a chance to unwind, they also bring new challenges and choices when it comes to navigating digital life.

That’s why we’ve kicked off the #OurFeedOurFuture Summer Series — a collection of short videos packed with real tips to help families, educators, and guardians navigate digital life over the holidays.

We’ve teamed up with members from our parent and expert network to share simple ways to stay safe, build trust, and strike a healthier screen-life balance, all grounded in real-life experience.

Hear it from our experts and parents:

  • Turn on safety features

Even if summer’s already underway, it’s not too late to update a few settings. Features such as screen time limits, privacy controls, and app-level filters can make a big difference.

Location sharing off? Content filters on?

Quick fixes, big impact.

  • Set digital boundaries together

Digital rules work best when they’re made with young people. Try setting shared screen time goals, agreeing on no-phone zones (like during meals or before bed), or starting a summer digital challenge that mixes online fun with offline adventures.

  • Reconnect with the offline world

Summer is the perfect time to swap screens for real-life moments, even if it’s just going for a walk, reading together, or cooking as a family. Offline doesn’t mean boring. In fact, it’s often where the best memories are created!

  • Keep the conversation going

Ask what they’re watching, what’s trending, and how they feel about it. These everyday conversations help build trust and teach young people how to think critically about what they see online — whether it’s AI-generated images, viral challenges, or new platforms.

  • Watch out for signs

Young people’s online behavior can reveal important cues about their wellbeing. As Dr. Stephan Dreyer stresses

“building a better and safer digital future means encouraging families to talk openly about online experiences, both positive and negative.”

By fostering honest dialogue, families and educators can help young people build healthy digital habits and establish their own green and red flags.

What else is coming your way?

In the weeks ahead, new voices from our network will share fresh tips, insights, and real-life experiences to help you navigate digital life throughout the summer and beyond.

From favorite books and activities to creative ways of building trust, each new video adds to our shared understanding of what healthy digital habits look and feel like both online and offline.

Whether you’re here for practical advice or simply curious about what others are trying, the goal remains the same: to build a better and safer digital future for all!

New videos drop weekly on Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn.
