The Project
Advocacy for Young People in Kosovo
Our work as a think tank organization brought us to visit Kosovo and hold training for young entrepreneurs during the Summer JADE Meeting that took place in Prishtina in July 2009.
Visiting a country whose more than 50% of the population is under 25 years old, gave us a lot of input and made us think about what we can do in Kosovo and for Kosovo as foreign citizens; how we can help young people in Kosovo to achieve better opportunities in Europe than those they have now.
We had to explore by ourselves what kind of needs we could address with our expertise and we found out that there is much to be done in making people in European Union, especially young people, be aware about the situation of the youth in Kosovo and its big potential and in supporting young people Kosovo to experience better growing possibilities similar to those that young people in the European Union have.
Therefore, our team is engaged in the Kosovo project aiming at the following goals:
> to make Young Europeans aware of the current situation of their peers who live in Kosovo;
> to lobby the European Institutions (Parliament and Commission) in order to obtain easier VISA condition for young people from Kosovo who want to study/ work in Europe;
> to initiate an internship for young Kosovar at European level, offering the winner of an essay competition a paid internship at Think Young in our Brussels office.
