ThinkYoung Essay Competition

Selection Criteria

Ten essays written by ten different authors are to be chosen as the winning essays of the competition.

There are six topics for consideration thus six different categories: Economy, Social Inclusion/Exclusion, Information Society, Statehood and Governance, Culture, European Union.

Depending on the number of entries we’ll receive on each topic and on the points accorded to them, a decision will be taken on the number of winning essays in each category.

 

Criteria:

Stage 1:

The essays written in poor English will not be qualified for the second stage of the selection process.

The decision will be taken by ThinkYoung.

 

Stage 2:

There is a total of 100 points to be accorded to each essay.

The judging criteria in the second stage of the selection process will be the following:

 

Structure: 30 points

 

Introduction: states the topic, at least one of the subtopics, makes a connection to the theme of the competition if this is logically possible, previews the content of the essay (10 points)

 

Main body: paragraphs are provided where the topic and at least one of the subtopic(s) are being handled thoroughly and a connection to the main theme of the competition is made. In these paragraphs idea(s) should be introduced clearly and should be supported by arguments and facts. (10 points)

 

Conclusion: concludes the essay while providing a review of the content, and restating the topic, at least one of the subtopics and the connection to the theme of the competition if this is logically possible. (10 points)

 

Content: 40 points

 

The topic and at least one the subtopics were handled thoroughly supported by arguments and facts. (20 points)

 

A connection to the main theme of the competition was made and relying on the topic and the subtopics chosen, arguments in favor of the visa liberalization issue for Kosovo were provided. (20 points)

 

 

Quality: 30 points

New ideas, perspectives and solutions were provided. (15 points)

The content was presented in a creative way. (10 points)

The essay was a pleasant and interesting read. (5 points)

The decision will be taken by the Jury Members. The essays will be blind-reviewed.

 

Stage 3:

The criteria for the third stage of the selection process will be the following:

- The evaluation of the essay by the jury members

- A rich CV: work experience, foreign languages

- An impressive interview

The decision will be taken by Think Young.
